PURPOSE: The Molding Maintenance Specialist is responsible for providing engineering support to define corrective actions and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
The Molding Maintenance Specialist will assist and/or lead improvement initiatives and support all Molding operations.
Responsibilities:
•Investigate, develop, and implement activities to reduce machine downtime and optimize process efficiency.
•Implement process improvements, SOP’s, and PM’s to maximize production.
• Work with Maintenance personnel to assist in troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and control systems problems.
•Maintain and troubleshoot machine technology to include fiber optics, controls, PLC's, vision systems, and drives.
• Troubleshoot electrical and PLC problems.
• Support new projects and make recommendations regarding new technology to improve product quality and productivity.
•Determine possible machine upgrades to further improve production.
• Work with others to develop and implement capital projects that will reduce costs and downtime and improve operating efficiency.
• Provide engineering support for new equipment upgrades and special projects in the Molding department.
• Prioritize machine and automation issues.
• Interface with outside Machine and Automation vendors for the purpose of defining, designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and redefining processes.
• Communicate effectively with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance Departments at the local and corporate level.
• Develop electrical and mechanical documentation, design modifications, and programs for equipment.
• Develop, review, and implement work instructions as needed.
•Develop training materials and assist with training of the maintenance staff.
•All other tasks as assigned by the Machine Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications:
• Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
• 5 years of experience in Industrial Maintenance/Engineering.
• Strong mechanical/electrical background with excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Three years of PLC experience.
• Experience with vision systems.
• Must be able to read and write electrical schematics.
• Basic knowledge of computer programming.
• Strong analytical skills and organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks
simultaneously.
• Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated leadership ability.
• Good problem solving, organization, and time management skills.
• Experience in plastics processing preferred but not required
• Must be self-motivated with excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Design experience with 2-D CAD or 3-D Modeling.
• Must have the ability to be on-call for any shift as necessary.
