Laser Operator

Modern Manufacturing Position Summary: The position’s primary purpose and focus Modern Manufacturing is looking for a Laser Operator, for its manufacturing facility located in Eudora, KS.
The primary focus for the Laser Operator will be to work on fabrication activities to achieve established production goals consistent with standards of quality, safety, cost and housekeeping.
Tactical and strategic thinking are essential for this role.
Position, Duties & Primary Responsibilities: Major responsibilities of the position Ability to read and understand part drawings and specifications; Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards and implementation; Knowledge of 5S and continuous improvement projects specifically in a machine shop; Work to improve the efficiency and accuracy of methods and procedures which would improve product quality throughout product realization; Monitors and drives quality measures and implements continuous improvement efforts.
Participates in and coordinates programs related to employee communications, placement, training and development, orientation, quality, etc.
Strong background, knowledge and understanding of fabrication.
Proficient in various conventional Trumpf sheet metal shop equipment such as CNC Laser Cutters, CNC Routers, and Press Brakes.
Ensures the consistent use of safety devices and personal protective equipment (PPE), supervises departmental housekeeping Ensure nonconforming product is identified and segregated to prevent its introduction into the product stream;; Attention to detail and excellent organizational, problem solving and multi-tasking skills; Report inspection results in written or printed format.
Interacts with interested parties to ensure all results are understood and acted upon as necessary; Provide support to engineering and management on special projects; Other duties as assigned; Skill and qualifications: Clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills Highly motivated and demonstrates initiative Good organizational, planning, problem solving, and execution skills Ability to plan, multi task, and manage time effectively Strong Mathematical understanding Effective interpersonal/people skills The ability to work effectively in a team environment High attention to detail Ability to prioritize and delegate work load, work independently and manage time effectively to achieve maximum production; Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines Strong computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office Software (work, excel, outlook) Education, Training & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent Knowledge of Workplace Safety and Health regulations, practices, operational procedures and requirements At least 5 years manufacturing and fabrication experience with emphasis on metal fabrication Ability to interpret drawings, blue prints, and engineering directive documents A minimum of 3-5 years of quality control experience in a machine shop; Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts, quality measurements and OSHA requirements Will have knowledge of working with and implementing ISO 9001:2015 in a machine shop setting.
